Secondary

The Pathway Partnership

Support from Every Path

The Pathway Partnership works alongside secondary schools to support young people who may be struggling with emotional regulation, behaviour, confidence, neurodivergence, engagement or the demands of school life.

Our approach looks beyond the behaviour itself. We help young people understand what is happening underneath it, develop practical strategies and build stronger relationships with the adults supporting them.

Evolve Secondary

Understand yourself. Develop the tools. Evolve.

Evolve is our structured small-group development programme designed for young people who may be struggling with emotional regulation, confidence, behaviour, attention, impulsivity or understanding themselves.

Rather than simply telling pupils what they need to change, Evolve helps them understand why they think, feel and respond in the way they do.

Through practical activities, discussion and reflection, pupils explore areas including emotional regulation, stress and overwhelm, triggers, behaviour patterns, self-belief, communication, decision-making, relationships and coping strategies.

The aim is to develop self-awareness first, because sustainable behavioural change is far more likely when a young person understands what is driving their behaviour.

Ideal for: Small groups of pupils who would benefit from structured early intervention and personal development.

1-to-1 Mentoring

Individual support for the individual behind the behaviour.

Not every young person needs the same thing.

Our 1-to-1 mentoring provides a safe, consistent space where a pupil can talk openly, understand what’s happening for them and work on the areas that matter specifically to their life.

Unlike Evolve, there is no fixed journey. Support is tailored around the individual and can explore emotional regulation, ADHD and neurodivergence, confidence, anxiety, relationships, school engagement, identity, behaviour patterns, decision-making and difficulties outside school.

The mentoring relationship also gives young people something many struggling pupils desperately need: A consistent adult who listens before judging.

Ideal for: Pupils requiring more personalised or intensive support than a group programme can provide.

The Bridge Intervention

Intervene before exclusion.

The Bridge is designed for pupils whose behaviour is escalating and who may be approaching suspension, repeated sanctions or disengagement from school.

Instead of allowing every incident to follow the same cycle of:

Incident → Sanction → Suspension → Return → Repeat

The Bridge creates an opportunity to intervene.

A young person can be removed from an escalating situation, given time and support to regulate, explore what happened, understand their response and prepare to successfully return to learning.

The aim isn’t to remove consequences or excuse inappropriate behaviour. It’s to make sure the young person learns something from what happened rather than simply experiencing another punishment.

REGULATE → REFLECT → UNDERSTAND → RESET → REINTEGRATE

Ideal for: Pupils experiencing repeated behavioural incidents, emotional escalation, suspensions or difficulty remaining successfully engaged in school.

Year 7 Transition Support

Helping pupils find their feet in secondary school.

The move from primary to secondary school is huge and for some pupils the difficult part doesn’t become apparent until after they arrive.

New teachers. Different classrooms. Larger peer groups. Increased independence. Homework. Organisation. Social pressure. New expectations.

Our Year 7 Transition Support works with pupils who are finding that adjustment difficult during their first year of secondary education.

We help pupils build confidence, understand new expectations, manage anxiety and overwhelm, develop organisation and independence, navigate friendships and learn when and how to ask for help.

The goal is to prevent a difficult transition becoming a longer-term pattern of disengagement.

Ideal for: Year 7 pupils who need additional support settling into secondary education.

The Power of Being Seen

Staff Awareness Talk

The Power of Being Seen explores the enormous impact adults in school can have on a young person’s development.

Using lived experience alongside practical understanding, the session explores what can sit underneath behaviour, why some pupils repeatedly disengage or react, how neurodivergence can present differently and how everyday interactions can influence a young person’s self-belief.

It’s not about excusing behaviour or telling teachers how to teach.

It’s about asking:

What changes when we understand the young person before responding to the behaviour?

Staff leave with a different perspective and practical ideas they can take straight back into school.

Staff Training & Workshops

Our staff sessions go deeper into specific areas affecting pupils and classrooms.

Training can be tailored around the school’s needs and cover areas including ADHD and neurodivergence, emotional regulation, behaviour and communication, identifying struggling pupils, de-escalation, practical classroom strategies and supporting pupils who may not outwardly appear to be struggling.

Beyond Behaviour

Parent & Carer Talk

When a young person is struggling, school and home can sometimes feel as though they’re dealing with two completely different children.

Beyond Behaviour helps parents and carers explore what may be happening underneath the behaviours they see.

Through lived experience, relatable examples and practical discussion, the session explores ADHD, emotional regulation, communication, boundaries, consequences, connection, confidence, decision-making and the importance of feeling heard.

This isn’t about telling parents how to parent.

It’s about helping families understand their young person differently and giving them practical ways to strengthen the support around them.

Whole-School Partnership

One young person. One team. One pathway.

The greatest impact happens when pupil support, school support and family support work together rather than independently.

A Whole-School Pathway Partnership can combine:

Evolve Secondary • 1-to-1 Mentoring • The Bridge • Year 7 Transition • Staff Training • The Power of Being Seen • Beyond Behaviour • Parent Support

We work alongside the school to identify where support is needed and build a package around the pupils, staff and families involved.

CHILD + SCHOOL + FAMILY all working towards the same outcome.

See the young person. Understand the need. Build the pathway.
